Yadkin Valley United Fund Seeks Part-Time Executive Director
Friday, March 14, 2025ELKIN, NC — March 14, 2025 — The Yadkin Valley United Fund (YVUF) is seeking a dynamic, community-minded leader to serve as its part-time Executive Director. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality of life for residents throughout the Yadkin Valley region.
The YVUF serves as a crucial conduit that mobilizes the caring powers of the community for the betterment of people in the Yadkin Valley, including Arlington, Jonesville, Elkin, Ronda, Mountain Park, Traphill, Thurmond, and State Road in the Tri-County area.
"Our Executive Director plays a vital role in connecting resources with community needs," said Mike Bovender, YVUF President. "We're looking for someone passionate about our mission who can build relationships and effectively manage our operations on a part-time basis."
The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience, strong fundraising abilities, and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of the Yadkin Valley community and experience working with nonprofit organizations are highly desirable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Board of Directors on strategic planning and implementation
- Overseeing annual fundraising campaigns and donor engagement
- Representing YVUF at community events and fostering relationships with stakeholders
- Managing day-to-day operations, communications, and volunteer coordination
This part-time position requires 10-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Mike Bovender, President, of the Yadkin Valley United Fund announced today that the YVUF would be donating $10,000 from their emergency fund to support businesses in Elkin and Jonesville who suffered a financial loss due to the flooding from hurricane Helena. The Town of Elkin, downtown flood fund will receive $8,000 and the town of Jonesville will receive $2,000. Bovender said approximately 12 Elkin/Jonesville businesses were negatively impacted by Helena.
The YVUF is currently in their 2025 drive with a goal of $200,000 and currently have pledges and/or donations of $140,000. The YVUF provides funds for 21 non-profits in the Yadkin Valley who provide services to citizens with all kinds of human needs.
